Steve is a former Chief Fire Officer and Chief Executive, former President of the Chief Fire Officers Association, and an Expert Witness to the Grenfell Tower Public Inquiry.
He chaired The North Cheshire and Mersey NHS Foundation Trust for 11 years, guiding the organisation through service change and Covid-19.
He has advised on national public-service leadership, served as a charity trustee, and now holds senior cross-sector roles. For example, Steve is Executive Director of the Charity, the Fire Sector Confederation, Secretary to the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Fire Safety and Rescue and Visiting Professor at the University of Chester.
