Your Neighbourhood Housing Officers

What does a Neighbourhood Housing Officer do?

Your Neighbourhood Housing Officer looks after the day-to-day management of homes and neighbourhoods. Their role is to make sure tenancies run smoothly and that neighbourhoods are clean, safe and well cared for.

They will:

  • Support you in your tenancy – offering advice, carrying out home visits, and helping you access support if you need it, including help with cost-of-living pressures.

  • Keep neighbourhoods safe and well maintained – carrying out regular estate inspections, identifying issues like repairs, damp or environmental concerns, and making sure these are dealt with.

  • Manage empty homes – working with other teams to  re-let properties quickly so homes don’t stay empty for long. Officers take action when abandonment is suspected.

  • Tackle tenancy issues – investigating tenancy breaches and taking  action where needed. Working collaboratively with the Safer Neighbourhoods Team to tackle problems such as anti-social behaviour and suspected fraud.

  • Work with partners – coordinating with local teams and services to improve your neighbourhood and respond to concerns.

  • Protect vulnerable residents – identifying safeguarding concerns and making sure the right support is in place.

  • Listen and take action – acting as the ‘eyes and ears’ in the community and responding to issues raised by customers.

In short, they’re here to help you maintain a successful tenancy and to make sure your neighbourhood is a place you’re proud to call home.
