Community activities bring local residents together, creating happier, healthier places to live and grow old in. Stockport Homes host a range of activities throughout the borough, open to anyone over the age of 50, regardless of whether you are a tenant or not.

Annual calendar of events

Our calendar of events is the perfect way to source local events, celebrations, and workshops across Stockport, keeping you up to date and informed throughout the year. The calendar is regularly revised in line with new request made by attendees, so please ring ahead of attending an activity to ensure the details remain the same. Alternatively, please ring us if you would like to see something take place in your area.

Intergenerational activities

Several of the activities detailed have been marked as intergenerational. These activities add an injection of youth and excitement. We are currently liaising with NCS to arrange several exciting intergenerational activities.

The calendar details contact information of individuals (Independent Living Assistants) who are organising each individual activity. If you would like further information surrounding a particular activity or would like to put you name down to attend an activity, please feel free to give them a call.

Weekly recurring events

Alongside our annual calendar of activities taking place across the borough, we have several weekly recurring activities that take place within our schemes. Anyone is welcome to attend these activities, to find out more why not give us a call on 0161 474 3772.

We are always looking for people to help and support us with the running of the activities, whether you are a tenant or not, you can help!

Oscar

OSCAR is a committee group set up by several of our customers. The aim of the groups is to apply and secure funding to support the many activities we organise. During lockdown getting together to conduct physical activities was not possible, OSCAR adapted quickly to offer help by funding activity packs instead. We created the packs, which contained a wide range of activities from sudoku to planting kits and delivered them to many customers throughout the borough. Thank you, OSCAR!

We are now looking to create another group similar to OSCAR, so if you would like to get involved, please call Sharron on 07800 617828 or Rebecca on 07800 617832

Volunteers

Helping our engagement with local residents through a range of activities, volunteers are essential in coordinating, promoting and impacting the communities we serve across the borough.

If you can you spare some time each week to help support a particular activity, please get in touch by calling Lynn on 0161 474 3119

Community Hub

The Community Hub offers a short term support service to support people to independently take part in a wide variety of social, civic, leisure, learning, or volunteering opportunities, where they would otherwise find it very difficult to get involved because of physical or emotional ill-health, a physical or sensory disability, or caring responsibilities for instance.
