If you live within the following blocks: Pendlebury Towers, Hanover Towers, Lumb House, Torkington House, Queens Court, Mottram Street, Hollywood Towers, Montague Houses. The heating system in your flat is connected to a communal heating system, and the boilers are located in an ‘Energy Centre’. The heat energy will come from gas boilers.

Within your flat, the heating and hot water will work exactly the same as it would if you had your own boiler. You can control your heating through the thermostatic radiator valves on your radiators. To reduce the temperature, rotate the knob clockwise. If you turn it all the way it will shut the radiator off. If you just want to reduce the temperature a little do it a quarter turn at a time and let it settle for about 20 minutes. The temperature of the radiators will change when you use these controls, simply adjust the Thermostatic Radiator Valves until you are comfortable.

Hot water from your taps is ‘instantaneous’: this means that you just open a hot tap and within a few seconds you will have hot water. Payment for your heating is arranged via a service charge, which you pay as part of your rent.
