The Competence and Conduct Standard is a new requirement from the Regulator of Social Housing and comes into effect from October 2026. The standard aims to ensure that everyone involved in delivering services to customers has the right knowledge, skills, experience and behaviours to provide safe, high-quality and professional services. The standard applies to social housing managers and all colleagues whose roles have a direct impact on customers and their homes. It also places expectations on landlords to support ongoing learning, development and professional standards across their workforce.
At Stockport Homes, we are committed to ensuring our colleagues have the skills and support they need to deliver excellent services. Over the coming months, customers will see us updating and publishing some of our HR policies and service standards as we continue to strengthen how we meet the requirements of the new standard.
Customer involvement is an important part of this work. We are currently consulting with customers on a number of policies and service commitments to help ensure that our approach reflects what matters most to the people who live in our homes and communities. We will use the feedback we receive to shape and finalise our approach, and will publish our new policies, service standards and commitments so customers can see what they can expect from us.
If you would like to have your say, review proposed changes, or get involved in future consultation and engagement activities, we would love to hear from you. Your feedback helps us shape services and hold ourselves accountable for delivering the standards our customers expect.
We will be hosting two in person consultation events as detailed below. If you would like to join us then please let us know by emailing [email protected] or calling 0161 474 3331.
