Whilst we will keep your building safe by meeting all the required regulations and standards, you can support us as follows:

  • Know what to do in the event of a fire in your property or another part of the building
  • Be careful in your flat around fire safety and keep escape routes clear
  • Check your smoke and heat detectors are working once a week
  • Avoid tampering with safety features in your flat and communal areas
  • Keep the space outside your flat clear of rubbish or other items such as prams, buggies, or mobility scooters.
  • Use the bin chutes safely to dispose of rubbish. Speak to your caretaking team if you have problems disposing of bulky items
  • Report any issues to SHG – particularly around fire safety
  • Allow access for fire door and sprinkler inspections
  • Let us know if your evacuation circumstances have changed, even temporarily
