Leaving a Stockport Homes tenancy

If you have decided you want to end your tenancy with Stockport Homes, you will need to complete a form.

You must give 28 days' notice to leave a Stockport Homes property, during which you will be charged rent. This will still apply if you do not give notice but leave your home and hand your keys in the same day.

Tenancies run from Monday to Sunday. If we receive a termination of tenancy form on a Monday, then the notice period will start on the same day. If we receive it on any other day, then the notice period will start from the following Monday.

Please leave your home clean and remove all belongings. If we must remove belongings for you the cost of this will be passed on to you.

When you want to end your tenancy, to prevent any unnecessary recharges, the ‘Lettable and Return Standard’ guide highlights the condition you should return the property to us in. If you need any support in removing rubbish or unwanted furniture from your property, please contact your Neighbourhood Housing Officer.
