Stockport Homes Group is proud to be taking part in the 14th annual National Apprentice Week between 8th and 14th February. The annual week-long celebration of apprenticeships, taking place across England, will be showcasing how apprenticeships have helped organisations and people of all ages and backgrounds. This years’ theme is #BuildtheFuture, which highlights the positivity and opportunity apprenticeships offer even in these uncertain times.
Apprenticeships are an exciting option - you get hands-on training and the chance to put your skills into practice. Apprenticeships are available at multiple levels. From school leavers, people upskilling in their careers and complete career changes.
During this week, we will be sharing some of our apprentices’ stories and also getting our managers involved sharing their experiences as part of the 'I Love Apprenticeships' day on Valentine’s day 14th February.
Last year, SHG employed 19 apprentices. The apprentice positions are in a variety of fields including Marketing, ASB and Joinery. Amelia Wilshaw is a Housing Management Apprentice, and said:
“The opportunity came at a time when I was ready to change my career and I was looking at roles I knew would be beneficial to people’s lives. I hadn’t ever worked in housing, so I was so pleased to see this role advertised potentially giving me the chance to get my foot in the door and learn on the job as well as getting paid a decent wage to do so. Applying for this role was one of the best choices I’ve ever made.”
