Who Can Join the Panel?

We want our ASPIRE panel to represent all Stockport Homes’ customers living in Stockport. We encourage everyone to apply, and we'll help you with any areas you're not familiar with through specific training. 

We're looking for people who:

 

  • Want to learn about how Stockport Homes operates. 

  • Are ready to attend meetings and training sessions. 

  • Enjoy working collaboratively with others. 

  • Respect different opinions and perspectives.

Position 

ASPIRE Customer Panel Member 

 

What you’ll do 

You’ll help us make sure we deliver excellent services and monitor and challenge how services are performing.  

 

The ASPIRE Panel will provide an important link between the Board and customers and will hold Stockport Homes to account on the things that really matter to customers. 

Where and when you’ll do it 

We’ll need your time for an average of around one day a month.  

 

This would be made up of a meeting for a couple of hours every three months and training in-between meetings. 

 

Outside of meetings, the time commitment includes reading which you’ll be able to do from the comfort of your own home. 

 

There will also be opportunities to attend regional and national social housing events and networks online and in person.   

 

What you’ll get 

£500 per year* plus payment of reasonable expenses. 

 

Support, including training and development opportunities. 

 

How long you’ll commit to 

Three years initially, with a further three (subject to review) 

The panel can have up to 15 members.  

To join, you need to: 

  • Be 18 or older and a current customer of Stockport Homes (be a tenant or someone in your household aged 18+, a leaseholder, or shared owner). 
  • Complete the panel's training on what we do and what you need to know. 

You can't join if: 

  • You are in breach of your lease or tenancy agreement. 
  • You have an Anti-Social Behaviour case open against you. 
  • Someone in your household is already on the Panel. 

 

*Positions on the Panel are paid at up to £500 per year and £600 for the Chair of the Panel. Payment might adversely affect customers who claim benefits or pensions. If you're not sure if you will be affected, we can provide you with specialist advice from our Money Advice Team so that you make the right choice for you.
