Furniture Recycling Service

Stockport Homes has set up a Furniture Recycling Service with the aim of helping to end Furniture Poverty. Furniture poverty is defined as the inability to afford or access basic furniture and furnishings, including domestic appliances, that provide a household with a decent quality of life and the ability to participate in the norms of society. this service collects furniture and electrical white goods from across Stockport.

Stockport Homes obtains furniture from household donations and from empty properties and we have also advertised the service with our partnership registered providers with the aim of collecting good quality furniture from them also.

Once the furniture has been collected it is stored until needed and then gifted free of charge to new residents or existing residents in need and help them sustain their tenancies and lead a better quality of life.

The service will only work with the support of staff and volunteers as volunteer time makes such a difference to our work.

Soft furnishing need to comply with 1988 safety regulations and most armchairs, sofas have a label at the bottom.

If you have any furniture that you wish to donate please contact me via email heather.mcfarlane@stockporthomes.org

If you wish to volunteer then please complete the form below.
