Below is some of the feedback we have received from people attending different employment programmes or training. We also work with different companies creating bespoke employment support packages, included is some of this feedback from companies.

Customer who secured a role as a Residential Support Worker:

“I watched the videos before my interview and gained some very useful tips, they helped to calm my nerves before the interview and helped me feel more like myself, I felt more comfortable going into this interview than any previous ones I’ve had. One of the tips on the video was to research the company, I’d never completed this task before and the interviewers was impressed with my knowledge of the company.”

Caroline, a customer whom our team met through BBC Radio Manchester's 1M Job Hunt programme:

“I first lost my job due to Covid. Since then I was struggling to get myself back out there.

Maria has been supporting me in my job search and helped me to find new job roles to apply, updating my CV and cover letter plus provided training materials and support. In less than two months this has resulted in an interview that was successful, and I am now starting a new career in customer services in an insurance company. Maria also referred me to Smart Works, a service that provides clients with a complete outfit of clothes and accessories to feel more confident. I love everything I was given and felt very spoilt.

Maria has been amazing with our regular 1:1 sessions! Having that person who I can call for advice and support or to chat to, and sometimes cry to. I haven't been very happy in the last few months but this whole process has definitely boosted my confidence and my future now looks bright.”

Temporary Accommodation resident, who was granted the use of use of a laptop with help from the employment team:

Customer who attended an online interactive ‘Job Searching’ session:

"Just wanted to drop you a quick note to thank you and your colleagues for the session on Monday. As you said, the aim is always to teach someone something new & even though I’ve been search for a new role since I was made redundant in October, I certainly learnt a few new tricks.

I actually thought that the session was going to be around roles which were available within your organisation so it was really great to see that you are able to expand this across roles within the Stockport borough and surrounding areas and I really applaud you and your colleagues for supporting the local communities during this time. You said you'd help with CVs, I’d really apricate any feedback you may have on mine. Thank you!"

Adam, works at B4Box:

“Stockport Homes’ Employment Team have helped me secure a role with B4Box, working as a general labourer. Previously I had worked as a self-employed plasterer, unfortunately work had dried up, and I was struggling to pay rent on time.

Within two weeks of my first meeting, I had found employment, I couldn’t believe how quickly this happened. Before this, for months I had been applying for jobs and had only been invited to one interview. Thanks to the employment team’s hard work, I now have the security of a full-time, permanent role.”
