Compliance Masterclass putting customer safety first

28 November 2019 From 9:30AM to 4:00PM   |   This event has now finished.

Stockport Homes’ Customer Safety Team is dedicated to managing the statutory and legislative property compliance requirements of the organisation, ensuring that our tenants’ homes remain a safe place to live.

Over the last 3-4 years we have overhauled our approach to managing asbestos, water hygiene, gas safety, electrical safety and fire safety.  Stockport Homes are now recognised as industry compliance leaders, achieving consistently high compliance indicators.

Stockport Homes wants to share its journey to excellence with other ambitious housing providers and use this opportunity to share experiences and best practice.

On Thursday 28th November from 9:30am – 4:00pm, we are hosting a seminar aimed at staff and managers responsible for health & safety and property compliance. The seminar will cover the big ‘5’ areas of compliance and will focus on the positive changes and new ways of working Stockport Homes has adopted to put customer safety at the core of what we do. We will discuss our approach to:

  • Data management
  • Compliance reporting
  • Property access issues
  • Policies & Procedures
  • Staff Training & Development
  • Contractor Management
  • Cross directorate working

The seminar will be hosted by Stockport Homes’ Customer Safety Manager, finalist in this years’ national 24 Housing and Women in Housing awards for Professional of the Year.

£90 per person - lunch and refreshments are included. For group booking rates please email

Hi Benni, I would advise that you discuss your housing situation with our Homechoice team who can be contacted on 0161 217 6016 or email

I am on ESA due to mental and physical, long term health issues. I am unable to ever work. They award points for people who work, volunteer, or are in training. I cannot do any of those, so people who ARE able bodied get more points that I do.
I do get medical points but I still have nowhere near enough total points to ever get rehoused; I have been bidding for two years and at least thirty people are in front of me every week. I am probably never going to get rehoused. It is not as if Im being overly fussy about properties; I cannot go for stairs for example.

I even had a wonderful doctors letter saying that my current home is no longer suitable and also making me more ill, and I only got a measly 10 points. It is unfair that people who CANNOT work or volunteer get less points than those who CAN. I am a clean, quiet and decent middle aged woman, non smoker, no pets or children. I had landlords sing my praises in the past yet this counts for nothing. I also have the most excellent references, yet I am stuck with terrible neighbours and two flights of stairs that I can no longer manage; with no chance of ever getting out. I cannot afford private either as the shortfall in rent is out of my reach.
