Economy Energy has ceased to trade. Ofgem, the energy regulator, is appointing a new supplier for its customers.
Customers need not worry, their supplies are secure and credit balances are protected. Ofgem’s advice is not to switch, but to sit tight and wait until the new supplier has been appointed. This will help make sure that the process of handing customers over to a new supplier, and honouring credit balances, is as hassle free for customers as possible. Customers can find support and advice on the Ofgem website. Or alternatively if they need additional support they can call Citizens Advice on 03454 04 05 06 or get in touch through Ofgem’s facebook or twitter feed @ofgem.

We can also offer help to you with:

  • Warm Home Discount

The Warm Home Discount Scheme is a government initiative that gives some low-income households a £140 discount on their electricity bill.

It's a one-off discount administered by your energy supplier providing your energy supplier participates in the scheme. It is not a cash payment, but comes as a reduction in your bill or as a top up if you have a prepayment meter.

If you receive the Guarantee Credit element of Pension Credit or you / your partner are on a low income or get certain means-tested benefits you may be entitled to it.

The scheme opens once a year and is based on a first come first served basis. Electricity suppliers are starting to open their schemes now so check with your supplier to see if you’re eligible and how to apply or contact Stockport Homes Energy Advice Team for more information or assistance.

*The scheme does not affect your entitlement to either the Winter Fuel Payment or the Cold Weather Payment

Please see list below of the suppliers that are taking part in the scheme. If you click on your supplier, you will be directed to their website for more information. Please note that if you pre-register with your supplier this does not mean you have completed the application, if you pre-register the supplier will contact you when their application process is open.
