Computer skills and equipment

We can help you learn computer skills and get the equipment you need in a number of ways:

  • Learning opportunities

We offer a range of learning and training for customers. We fund the courses, so they are all free for you to attend. For more information, please see the learning opportunities page.

  • Digital heroes

If you want to learn the basics of using a computer, want to improve your computer skills or want to know how to access Universal Jobmatch you could contact the Digital Heroes programme.

Digital Heroes are local people who have received training in how to help other people learn about computers. The trainers are supported by Startpoint a local training company to make sure you get quality advice and support.

Booking for Digital Heroes support can be made via this Digital Heroes referral form or by calling Startpoint on 0161 494 9947.

  • Accessing free computers

If you need to use a computer to assist you to develop your CV or to search for jobs you can access a computer free of charge (or for a small charge) at a range of venues across Stockport such as libraries and community buildings. We have also provided computers for residents to use free of charge in certain blocks:

    • Beaver House
