Last month, we held our Annual Customer STAR Awards, the night was full of glitz, glamour, and most of all celebration. The awards recognise our customer’s personal achievements and the dedication and passion of community groups across Stockport.

This year, over 60 nominations were made for individuals and groups across six categories.

And the winners are….

Ged McLoughlin- Diversity & Inclusion Award

“Ged exemplifies authenticity and passion, wholeheartedly dedicated to both the community and working with Stockport Homes. Their commitment shines through in everything they do. Their contributions are not only paving the way for other LGBT+ residents to get involved but are also contributing to shaping policies and practices that will benefit the broader community of LGBT+ tenants in social housing.”

Your Local Pantry Volunteers- Support in the Community Award

“The success of this vital support wouldn’t have been possible without the dedication of the volunteers, who are the true heart of the community. They know their customers well, and their contributions are invaluable to every community they serve.”

Julie Loftus- Personal Achievement Award

“Your tenacity and grit, sharing your story with others and determination to help people learn new skills along with an ambition to make the community better for all is inspiring to others. Your dedication has made a clear and lasting impact in Brinnington, and the community are lucky to have you.”

Phillip Gould-Bourn- Inspiration Volunteer Award

“Phillip, 40 years of dedication speaks volumes. Despite current challenges, you continue to make a significant difference in the local area. You’ve clearly touched countless lives, and we hear time and again how you always put the community first.”

Reddish Men in Sheds- Community Group of the Year Award

“Reddish Men in Sheds stands out as one of the few initiatives for older men who struggle to make a connection once, they are retired/widowed. The group enables them to use or learn new skills and helping to combat loneliness. Their impact by donating bikes to schools, providing affordable transportation solutions, and actively caring for the environment.”

Lucy Frankland- Young person’s Inspirational Volunteer Award

Lucy is on a path to inspiring others with her bright future. Her remarkable determination and strong personality are truly admirable, especially at such a young age. Keep up the amazing work!”

Oromo Community Foundation – Judges Choice Award

This award is for a nominee who the judges felt stood out for their outstanding achievements.  

Received a unanimous vote across the judges as they truly stood out for demonstrating excellence and their exceptional achievements. “They have created something remarkable in a challenging area. Their perseverance and resilience left a lasting impression, earning the overwhelming support of our panel. They have made their community’s voices heard, and we are excited to see them continue to grow and thrive.” 

Congratulations to all the winners at the Customer Star Awards! Your hard work to improve Stockport and make it a better place to live is an incredible achievement, and you should be proud of all that you do. Thank you for your dedication and effort. It was such a good event and a real pleasure learning about the huge number of community events that Stockport Homes encourages. The recipients of the awards were absolutely thrilled and very humble to learn that they had been chosen.
