Stockport Homes Group are delighted to announce their new Charity of Choice for 2022 – 2024, Once Upon a Smile; helping bereaved families with financial and emotional support in their time of need.

Founded in 2011, Once Upon a Smile was built on a vision by Daniel Jillings and Danny Miller, who felt strongly about the lack of support for families after the death of a loved one, specifically parents, children and siblings. According to Child Bereavement UK, a parent of children under 18 dies every 22 minutes in the UK, heightening the need to provide safe environments that allow children to understand and express their emotion.

We are really pleased to have made Once Upon a Smile our Charity of Choice. As an organisation committed to the health and wellbeing of our customers and communities it is a great fit. The work they do to support families is invaluable and we are proud to be a part of this and support them through our fundraising activities

Helen McHale
Chief Executive of Stockport Homes Group

We are delighted to be chosen as Stockport Homes Group’s charity partner for the next two years, we already have an amazing fundraising calendar in place which we are so excited to begin. SHG employees have already shown great enthusiasm and we cannot wait to see where the partnership goes

Angela Griffiths,
Corporate and Community Manager at Once Upon A Smile

Over £37,000 was raised for Stockport Homes Group’s previous charity of the year, MQ – and ambitions are high to replicate such successes this time around with a planned sunrise walk to the summit of Mount Snowden, skydives and bake sales just the start of a brimming events calendar.

To celebrate the charity’s new relationship with Stockport Homes Group, a £500 cheque will be donated to Once Upon a Smile by Dash Architecture, which was received following their win at the prestigious Pinders Healthcare Design Awards earlier this month.
