The first group of Kick Starters start their career journey at SHG

Posted 14 April 2021   |   By Teina Ryynanen

The first group of five Kick Starters started their placements in the beginning of April at SHG within different teams from Environmental to Anti-Social Behaviour. The Kick Start scheme offers young people on Universal Credit a 6-month work placement.

Working closely with the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP), the next months will be an exciting opportunity for the new recruits to gain new skills and a valuable first step on their career ladder. All the young people have an allocated Employment Support Coach and Kick Start Mentor to support their placement at SHG.

Bethanie, who has started in the ASB team said;

“It has been a positive start, everyone is very friendly and easy to talk to. It feels like I can ask anything, and nobody gets annoyed with my multitude of questions. I am learning new systems as it’s my first week and look forward to the future in my team.”

With more Kick Start opportunities coming in 2021, if you are aged between 16-24 and in receipt of Universal Credit speak to your JCP Work Coach about available placements.
