Strawberries and Blossoms

Posted 24 May 2018   |   By Verity Calderbank

Some would say asking a group of eight-year olds to name local landmarks could be a risky move… but it was one that paid off when Stockport Homes Group put the task to Year 3 at Cale Green Primary School.

Sticking to a theme of famous Stockport references, the pupils came up with name suggestions for both the new road and apartment block at Carrington Fields, a new development consisting of 32 houses and 26 apartments delivered by Viaduct Housing Partnership, managed by The Lane End Group in Thelwall.

Eight-year-old Iris Bailey was the winner of the naming competition, choosing ‘Blossoms House’ for the apartment block after Stockport-hailing band Blossoms, and ‘Strawberry Avenue’ for the road name after the famous Stockport recording studio.

Information about the development can be found here

Ken Lee, Chair of the Viaduct Board said

It’s important to us that local residents live in homes and neighbourhoods that they are proud of, and we are delighted that the names for this new development have been chosen by a pupil who lives locally. This is a great way to celebrate Stockport and its many achievements.
