Stockport Homes joined Stockport College this month in presenting a cheque of £700 to Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham, in support of his pledge to end rough sleeping by 2020.
Melissa Nicola, Housing Mediation Officer at Stockport Homes has been visiting the college giving talks on the issues facing younger people today, in particular homelessness. Stockport Homes also work closely with the college to identify and make referrals for any students who are at risk of being made homeless due to their circumstances.
The collaborative working between SHG and Stockport College continues into 2019, as Stockport Homes take part in the winter provision which will begin this November and carry on until March next year, in order to support the ‘No one sleeps rough this winter’ campaign. Stockport Homes will be providing camp beds, sleeping bags and extra staffing to help the cause.
