Stockport Homes celebrated ‘Employability Day’ by inviting some of customers who have been successful in securing employment through Stockport Homes’ employment team, down to their weekly job club, to speak to current job searches about their experiences.
Employability Day is the UK’s largest celebration for organisations supporting local people to gain, sustain and progress in work. Coordinated by the Employment Related Services Association (ERSA), hundreds of businesses, charities and other bodies will throw open their doors to raise awareness about how they support local people.
This year’s Employability Day theme was ‘closing the gaps’. Despite record employment, there are still significant disparities between groups in terms of employment rate, pay and career progression. Stockport Homes is helping to close the gaps by ensuring everyone in Stockport is getting the most out of their careers, and offering tailored support to the customer’s needs, whether that’s helping write a CV, preparing someone for an interview and linking people in with opportunities.
Chair of Stockport Homes’ Board, Jenny Osbourne, said
Employability Day is all about celebrating the hard work our employment team do to support the local people of Stockport into employment. To hear that there was such an amazing turn out is fantastic.
