Stockport Homes bringing the community together

Posted 24 October 2018

On Saturday 20th October Stockport Homes showed its commitment to ending isolation within its communities by holding a fun filled event for local refugee families to come together. The event was held at Edgeley Children’s Centre in Alexander Park, where Stockport Homes also hold a Refugee Support Group every Saturday from 12.30pm to 2.30pm.

With around 150 people attending, the day was a great success and brought families together from all communities and cultures. Activities included balloon modelling, robot making, football and painting national flags, to name a few. Alongside the activities, there was Ethiopian coffee to be drunk and Tibetan and Iranian food to be eaten.

Local residents and tenants enjoyed the day, making both new friendships and rekindling old ones.
