Stockport Homes art group holds first exhibition

Posted 23 October 2018

Offerton Art Group held its first exhibition at Stockport Homes managed Offerton Community Centre last week, with the Mayor of Stockport Walter Brett and local councillors Wendy Meikle and Laura Booth in attendance.

The event was well attended with a number of the items sold and hopefully will signal the start of regular exhibitions showcasing the group’s work. Handmade crafts from the craft group were also on display and will be available at the Christmas Market held at the Offerton Community centre on Saturday 24th November.

Councillor Wendy Meikle said:

"'I was most impressed with  all of the fabulous works of art and crafts on display at the first public exhibition.

When chatting to the artists I discovered that this art group not only enjoy the painting and craft making, but for many it has given them the opportunity to rekindle old friendships or to make new friends.

I hope that it continues for many years to come.

Stockport Homes holds a weekly art class at Offerton Community Centre as part of its commitment to making neighbourhoods a better place to live, with sessions running every Wednesday from 10am – 12 noon. The classes are fun and social and equipment with members of mixed ability and crafts are available to use should you not have your own.
