STAR Awards Winners 2019

We had a fantastic night celebrating customer achievements at our STAR Awards evening on 3rd October 2019 at Cornerstone.

The ceremony showcased groups and individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to the community and made Stockport a better place to live in the last year. Helen McHale, Chief Executive of Stockport Homes, presented the awards.

 Personal Transformation Award
‘This award is for an individual who has used their inner strength to make significant positive changes in their life, in spite of challenges they faced.’
Adam Barkworth: ‘This person is amazing, fantastic and inspiring! He helps others and has changed his own life. Huge congratulations.’

Young Innovator Award
‘This award is for a young person who stands out as showing true ambition and dedication, putting real effort into their personal development, supporting another person or achieving something great.’-
Buddhima Sahani Subasinghe: ‘She is a remarkable young person with great achievements in education and for charities. She show great determination and focus for her future.’

Most Dedicated Volunteer Award
‘This award is for a person who has shown genuine passion and put in significant effort to make a real difference in their local community.’ –
Sarah Hardy: ‘She is a fantastic support to the community, distinguished by her reliability.’

Good Neighbour Award ‘This is for someone who has gone above and beyond to support their neighbours, putting others before themselves and creating positive relationships around them.’ –
Feysal Abdirahman Osman: ‘He encourages independence and remarkably supports the community, helping those in difficult situations. He is so brave, even after horrific incidents.’

Green Initiative Award: ‘This award is for a group that has brought local people together to improve an external area, creating a vibrant, well-used and welcoming community space.’ –
Green Thumbs Community Garden: ‘We need more groups like this, showing others how to be organic.
This is an excellent project!’

Community Spirit Award: This award is focussed on projects that have united the community, creating a real sense of team spirit and using this to deliver fantastic results!’ –
Stockport Community Shed: ‘This group has made a real life difference to lives, what a great initiative. It’s life changing, inspirational and shows how passionate the people who run it are.’
