New project aims to boost Stockport cyclists

Posted 11 August 2016

A new project has launched in Stockport to encourage more local people to take up cycling thanks to support from Stockport Homes and Transport for Greater Manchester.

Over 50 adults and children attended the Community Cycle launch event on the Lancashire Hill estate in Stockport on Friday 5 August. They received free safety advice for cycling and maintaining bikes. There was also a Bike Doctor from local company CERA Cycloan who provided free checks to make sure bikes were safe and also fixed any problems they could for attendees.

The event also unveiled two new bike stores that have been installed, providing spaces for 20 bikes.

Quote from David Wright:

It is fantastic to work in partnership with Transport for Greater Manchester to help provide support for this project and see so many people attend our Community Cycle event. The installation of the new bike stores will provide safe storage of bicycles for our customers with the aim to encourage them to take up cycling.
