A group of 10 residents from Brinnington attended a celebration to congratulate them on finishing the Job Fit employment programme.
The programme, which is funded by the Big Local Brinnington, is aimed at bringing local communities together, to combat social isolation and help people into work.
The group of Brinnington residents receive one to one employment support tailored to their needs and a personalised gym plan.
Emma Galvin, who completed the programme said
I had no confidence before but now going to the gym, I have already lost a stone, and feel much more confident. It has been a real confidence boost. I was unemployed almost 3 years but now through the programme I have a full time job at the Produce Hall as Front of House. If you have any problems you can speak to somebody and get help, which is great.
John Kenny, from the Big Local Brinnington, said
We are very happy with the results which speak for themselves. Our main objective is to reduce social isolation, help people into employment, and get people engaging with the community. We are very happy that we’ve funded this project as it’s been a great success.
Chair of Stockport Homes’ Board, Jenny Osbourne, said
Congratulations to everyone that took part in the programme, this is a great achievement and everyone should be very proud of themselves.
