Furniture scheme supports residents in need

Posted 11 December 2017

Our Furniture Recycling Service helps those who cannot afford basic furniture and furnishings, including domestic appliances.

The service helps Stockport Homes tenants that are in crisis and unable to afford to replace items.

We accept any furniture in good condition and collect it from across Stockport. We provide it, free of charge, to residents who are in need, helping us to transform our customers’ lives.

We cannot accept any gas appliances or items that are broken.

A recent customer said,

I would just like to say what a game changer this scheme has been for me. I had been without a fridge / freezer for about two months due to my old one not
working. The cost of a second hand one was out of my reach. Thanks to this scheme I can now shop again with confidence. I think it’s a great scheme, a big thanks to all concerned.

Volunteers make all the difference to a service like this. If you wish to volunteer with the recycling service, call Heather McFarlane, the Furniture Recycling Scheme Manager, on 07891 949 397 or
email heather.mcfarlane@stockporthomes.org.
