The safety of residents and visitors in our properties is our top priority, we have been communicating regularly with tenants, providing information, and updates and hosting information sessions in blocks affected to provide reassurance to residents.
We support Dame Judith Hackitts recommendations for an increase in building regulations, and we are not complacent with fire safety measures, working closely with the Fire Service since Grenfell to ensure they are happy with our block safety. In addition, working with Stockport Council, investigations are underway to look at the designs of sprinkler systems that could be incorporated within the flats. This work will ensure all recommendations that may come out of the review will be incorporated into the design.
We have six blocks with external cladding, none of which is like that on Grenfell Tower. We have already had confirmation from the Government’s testing lab that the cladding and insulation used on our Lancashire Hill blocks passed the rigorous ‘BR135’ test for non-combustibility. The testing of cladding on Mottram Street was completed. In 2018 the manufacturer conducted a BS 8414 test and this system passed on all criteria and was classified to BR 135.
In 2018 we will also be launching a new fire safety campaign in partnership with the Fire Service to help further reassure our customers in the event of a fire.
