Best in the class as Stockport Homes named Top Landlord in the Country

Posted 15 July 2016   |   By Nicola Poulter

Stockport Homes is thrilled to reveal we have been named UK’s Top Landlord after winning the 24Housing magazine vote.

Being in the Top Ten Landlords for three years running is a major success in itself but coming first after two years at number 2 is the icing on the cake.

The ten shortlisted organisations campaigned to gather support in a bid to be named ‘Top Landlord.’ Our ‘put Stockport on the map’ campaign was boosted by the support from our customers, our partners and our staff. Thank you to everyone who voted for us.

Chief Executive Helen McHale said,

Our vision at Stockport Homes is to transform lives and to offer the best services possible to our customers. Being recognised as the number one landlord in the country will help us to promote our approach, so helping the lives of tenants, customers and staff.
We want to show the potential, true value and importance and worth of those living in social housing, to promote an approach to the management of Social Housing that does much more than just provide a decent home; but creates sustainable valued communities where people are supported in all aspects of their lives.

Councillor Alex Ganotis, leader of Stockport Council, said,

We’re very proud of what Stockport Homes has achieved – it delivers excellent services which go far beyond housing to help us reduce inequality in Stockport and this accolade is well deserved.

Chair of the Board David Wright added,

To be acknowledged as the number one landlord is fantastic news for everyone involved with Stockport Homes including staff, volunteers and our customers. It highlights that people support the work we do and recognise we are doing great work to provide services that go beyond the traditional role of a landlord in order to help transform lives.
