We are continually working to increase the accessibility and usability of our website and in doing so adhere to many of the available standards and guidelines.
This website endeavours to conform to level Double-A of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with disabilities. Conformance with these guidelines will help make the web more user friendly for all people.
The information below highlights some of the changes made to improve the accessibility of Stockport Homes’ website.
Colours – We have tried to use colours throughout the website that provide maximum contrast between foreground and background items. At the top of screen there is also an option for customers to change the colours, so the background colour turns yellow and the text turns black to make it easier for customers with visual impairments to read.
Text – At the top of the screen customers have the option to increase the size of the text on the website.
Images – All images throughout the website have been assigned alternative text, which describes the contents or function of the item.
Hyperlinks – We have chosen the standard hyperlink blue colour for all active hyperlink text items, as this is the most accessible and recognisable standard for link items.
Browsealoud - This website is now speech-enabled, which means that you can download free software onto your personal computer and have the site read aloud to you.
Google translate – At the bottom of the screen customers have the option through Google translate to translate the pages of the website into over 50 different languages.
Documents in different languages - Some key information has been translated into different languages for customers. Please go to Information in different languages to view and download the documents.
