Football event kicks-off with help from Stockport County

Posted 24 February 2017   |   By Nicola Poulter

Stockport Homes’ bi-annual free football event saw 95 local children aged 8-14 from across the Borough take part in a fun day of football and have the chance to take home a trophy.

Working with Stockport County, Stockport Homes has held the event for the last few years, attracting children from the area to Powerleague, close to the town centre.

All the children received a certificate and a medal with some lucky enough to win a trophy for a penalty shootout. The day ended with Stockport County Manager, Jim Gannon helping coach the children as well as signing shirts, footballs and presenting the winners medals.

Robin Burman, Chair of Stockport Homes’ Board said,

We’re thrilled to see so many youngsters take part in our bi-annual football event. It’s also great to be working closely with Stockport County who provide a lot of support to events like this throughout the Borough. And who knows, they may even spot a local star for the future!
