Stockport Homes in Sunday Times Top 100 for eighth consecutive year

Stockport Homes has been recognised as one of Britain’s best employers for the eighth consecutive year running by the Sunday Times newspaper.

The placing is determined by an anonymous survey of all staff at participating organisations throughout the country. It takes into account factors such as good management, social principles, and staff wellbeing, increasing two places from 59 to 57.

This year, Stockport Homes won a special recognition for the organisation's approach to ‘Giving Something Back’, which recognises the commitment shown to charitable activity and supporting staff to volunteer for local causes. Further to this is the continued commitment to making Stockport greener with investment in Biomass heating, helping local families with affordable groceries through the local pantry scheme, and maximising opportunities for local employment through the partnership with ‘B4Box’. 

Chief Executive at Stockport Homes, Helen McHale, said, “I am so pleased that for the eighth year in a row we are in the Top 100 not for profit companies to work for. It remains my commitment to be an employer of choice and to strive to improve levels of engagement throughout the organisation. Winning one of the prestigious Special Recognition awards for ‘Giving Something Back’ is a great tribute to all we do and acknowledges Stockport Homes commitment to being much more than just a Social Landlord by meeting our Mission to Transform Lives". 

Chair of Stockport Homes’ Board, Robin Burman, said; “Stockport Homes’ vision is ‘To deliver the best services to customers by being a great place to work.’ We’ve had a fantastic year in terms of receiving positive recognition for the work we do and this accompanied by our listing in the Top 100 shows how the vision works in practice. We encourage all of our staff to take part in the survey, and to provide open and honest feedback that will help us to drive improvements, and continue to be a great place to work.”
